In a significant update for NEET-UG 2025 aspirants, the National Medical Commission, in its latest public notification dated 26-02-2025, has clarified that students who have completed their education through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are eligible to appear for NEET-UG 2025. This includes candidates who have studied Biology as an additional subject, resolving previous uncertainties surrounding their eligibility.
The Graduate Medical Education Regualtion (GMER 2023) confirms that students who have completed their 10+2 from NIOS are eligible to apply for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025.
Candidates who have studied Biology as an additional subject from a recognized board or university, including NIOS, can confidently apply for NEET-UG 2025.
Students who have completed their 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, & English and later studied Biology as an additional subject can now pursue MBBS in India.
This update brings relief to thousands of NIOS students who previously faced uncertainty regarding their medical careers. With NMC’s official confirmation, students can confidently register for NEET-UG and pursue their dreams of becoming a doctor.
