• Alte University is a fully accredited higher education institution with 23 years of experience and history in the Georgian educational sector. It brings together nearly 2,500 students from 45 countries across four schools: the School of Business, the International School of Medicine, the School of Law and Social Sciences, and the School of Information Technology.

• Georgia, country of Transcaucasia located at the eastern end of the Black Sea on the southern flanks of the main crest of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Teaching methods and activities

• Lecture – is interactive the main purpose of which is to convey the basic essence of learning materials, and critically analyze the facts and ideas.
• Working in groups – The method is comprised of the discussions in small groups ensuring that the students understand the learning materials given in the textbooks more effectively.
• Discussion – The method lets the students improve their skills of debating and substantiating/reasoning their own ideas.
• Explanatory – is based on the discussion around the given issue. The lecturer brings the specific examples while explaining the materials. The detailed analysis of the examples is made in the framework of the given topic.
• Problem-based learning (BPL) – helps the student not only with acquiring knowledge but also improves the skills of effective communication, group work, problem-solving, independent learning, information sharing, etc. The students work in small groups together with the facilitator on the series of clinical problems.
• Case Study – The course leader together with students discuss the specific cases, which help to study the topic thoroughly. The process helps the students improve their critical thinking and analyzing skills.
• Practical method – implies learning by-doing that helps students develop their skills. It is basically used while teaching clinical.
• Inductive method –implies conveying any kind of subject knowledge when in the learning process the chain of thoughts are oriented from the specific facts to the generalization.

International Medical School

• Medicine is a combined system of scientific knowledge, technology, and practical application, with the aim of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of disease, as well as working to enhance, and maintain productivity and quality of life. The importance of medicine requires skilled professionals, who are always ready to assume the responsibility of maintaining the well-being of others.
• The mission of the International Medical School is to empower and help every single person, who wants to become a competent doctor and health professional, to educate and empower future clinicians to practice patient-centered medicine of the highest standard, prepare competent and compassionate world-class healthcare physicians while fostering a diverse community of aspiring healthcare professionals from around the globe.
• International Medical School offers Medical Doctor and Dentistry programs to Georgian and International students.
• The international medical program follows the standards set by the World Federation for Medical Education. The International School of Medicine is a member of both the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). The diploma of Alte University is recognized in all European countries, in the USA by ECFMG, in Turkey, India, and in many other countries.
• The course is taught in English.
• After the course completion, degree holders can continue their study for a Doctorate, or apply for a Residency course, or a residency course equivalent in accordance with laws of their counties, and after completing a standardized unified state examination can begin to pursue their own medical practice.

Medical Doctor (English) Program

International Medical School | One-cycle medical programs

The aim of the medical program at Alte University is to instill contemporary skills, values, and methods in both practical and theoretical applications of medicine, to prepare internationally qualified, highly skilled, medical professionals.

The Medicine Program aims to equip students with up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge, essential skills, and professional values required for medical practice, ultimately preparing highly qualified, competitive, and internationally recognized medical doctors.

The program offers a modern, internationally aligned medical education that integrates academic knowledge with hands-on clinical experience. The teaching process incorporates innovative methodologies, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL), simulation and VR technologies, and case-based clinical discussions.

Students have the opportunity to receive a full first-year scholarship funded by VIAN, complete clinical practice at the Ivane Bokeria University Hospital, and engage in scientific research and international projects. The program also prepares students for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and offers exchange and short-term clinical programs at partner universities such as University of Utah, Ibmec Educacional LTDA, University of Granada, and Düzce University. Additionally, it provides graduates with the opportunity to continue their studies through residency programs within the same clinical base.

Course Aspects

• The course offers : Integrated teaching with an innovative approach, to provide both basic and clinical understanding of organ systems, as well as developing the necessary knowledge, skills, and values required for the field of medicine. The course takes place over four phases.
• Phase 1 - Foundation : Key foundational fields such as biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology are integrated with practical fields such as radiology and clinical skills, to provide a practical understanding of all theoretical fields.
• Phase 2 - Pre-clinical : Understanding the syndromic and symptomatic effects of disease by clinical analysis of patient condition.
• Phase 3 - Clinical : Identification and analysis of medical diseases specific to disciplines such as obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, as well as others, during shifts at a hospital.
• Phase 4 - Actual Clinical Practice in hospital settings :
• In the fourth clinical practice phase of the course, the knowledge accumulated throughout the five-year course is applied in the following ways:
• To conduct independent, clinical procedures in a hospital environment, in leading Georgian hospitals, and clinics, both independent, and under the Vian group of hospitals, as well as the Iv. Bokeria University Clinic;
• To conduct independent, medical research
• To take part in relevant seminars, and workshops, conducted by both Georgian and international experts;
• To be part of medical research, in various forms, and with varied responsibility;
• Preparatory courses for the United States Medical Licensing Exam, for residency in the US;
• Preparatory courses for the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam, for residency in India;
• Exchange programs and courses in leading Asian and European universities.

Course Results

Course completion allows degree holders:

• To attain a fundamental understanding and competence of biomedical, behavioral, social, and clinical systems, allowing them to solve problems efficiently;
• To effectively communicate, using clinical knowledge and analysis, when providing consultations to patients, or their families, or when consulting with peers and colleagues, in a professional manner;
• To assess and identify, through physical examination, the severity, and origin of the disease, after conducting the necessary examinations, reaching a final diagnosis, to assign the recommended treatment;
• To conduct first aid help, taking into account factors such as age, and condition, such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, on the foundations of Basic Life Support, or BLS;
• To conduct Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, or ACLS, taking into account factors such as age, and condition;
• To conduct medicamentous therapy corresponding to the patient’s clinical condition, taking into consideration drug interactions, side effects, and patient age group;
• To independently perform relevant obligatory practical procedures, on patients (under supervision) and in simulated environments, while abiding to safety, ethical and legal principles;
• To conduct medical activities in a multicultural setting, while abiding to ethical and legal standards;
• To effectively solve clinical problems, and to make decisions in critical situations, both as a leader and as a team player;
• To manage acute and chronic diseases, taking into consideration a patient's age, type of disease, as well as psychological and social factors;
• To efficiently source medical literature based on the principles of evidence-based medicine;
• To draw relevant conclusions based on critical analysis and evaluation, taking into account academic honesty and ethical context;
• To effectively use information technologies for the production of practical medical records, in accordance with the legal requirements for confidentiality, and personal data protection;
• To perform assigned duty with high professionalism and to provide quality medical service in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment, impartially, in accordance with the norms of ethics, from the position of a leader with decision-making ability;
• To conduct medical research, draw conclusions, and make recommendations, with the aim of reducing the rates of mortality, and intensity of the disease, to ensure the health of population;
• To promote a healthy lifestyle and related activities.
