Medicine has always been and remains one of the most respected and in-demand professions. From ancient healers to modern specialists, doctors have played an important role in society, saving lives. Today, as the world faces new challenges and threats, the need for skilled healthcare professionals is more urgent than ever.
Kazakhstan-Russian Medical University is one of the largest and most dynamically developing medical universities in the country with more than 30 years of history. It combines the best traditions of medicine with innovations and modern technologies, creating a unique educational environment for future specialists.
The university was opened in 1992 on the wave of major political and economic transformations in the country. It was at that time that the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a member of the International Association of Surgeons, the People's Hero of Kazakhstan – Mukhtar Aliyevich Aliyev, together with Professor K.M. Maskeyev and Associate Professors V.S. Golubchenko and O.A. Panova, founded one of the first private universities in the CIS – then the Kazakh Medical Institute.
During this time, the university has gained a reputation as the leading medical university in the country. It has trained tens of thousands of specialists who are now successfully working in the healthcare sector.
Academician Aliyev M.A. laid the foundation for high-quality medical education that meets the highest standards, emphasizing practical training for future doctors. To achieve this, the university has an impressive scientific and clinical base, including over a hundred leading clinics in the country.
The basic education at the Kazakh-Russian Medical University includes 6 specialties: Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medical and Preventive Care. Postgraduate education programs provide in-depth knowledge in more than 20 residency specialties, as well as advanced training and professional retraining for medical and pharmaceutical professionals.
The educational process is implemented by world-renowned doctors and prominent Kazakhstani and foreign scientists. World-class scientists and leaders of international healthcare are honorary professors at the Kazakh-Russian Medical University, such as: Sir Rodney Errie Lawrence Williams – Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, Vedjdet Oz – Professor at Istanbul University, and others.
The Kazakh-Russian Medical University is building its own medical center. The university clinic will become an important part of the educational process. Here, students will gain invaluable experience by working under the guidance of experienced doctors and specialists. They will have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, observe patients, and participate in diagnosis and treatment.
The university is actively developing international relations. It conducts joint academic work with leading world-class medical schools to strengthen international relations with countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other countries in the near and far abroad. The university's list of international partners includes 27 foreign organizations from Greece, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and other countries. Students have the opportunity to study and practice abroad through academic mobility programs.
The University has implemented 2-degree international academic training programs, and the University is actively participating in the international program ERASMUS "LMQS".

The Kazakh-Russian Medical University is the founder of transport medicine and disaster medicine in Kazakhstan. In 2008, at the initiative of the Rector, Professor Dzhainakbayev N.T., with the support of charitable and public funds, the first Mobile Medical Complexes were created to provide medical and sanitary assistance to the rural population of Kazakhstan.
During this time, we have developed and implemented technologies for creating mobile medical complexes, from polyclinics to modern hemodialysis centers, which are in demand all over the world, both during normal times and in emergency situations. Since 2008, our faculty members and students have actively participated in real-life emergency response missions.
The team of specialists has examined more than 500,000 people in hard-to-reach regions of Kazakhstan, including during emergencies, on a voluntary basis. Scientific expeditions have been conducted to examine the population of the cities of Kurchatov and Aralsk. During the COVID-19 pandemic, scientific and practical assistance was provided on a voluntary basis to medical units of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Central Military Hospital in Almaty, mobile vaccination centers were set up, and modern medical equipment, including an intensive care unit, was provided on a voluntary basis.
This experience and knowledge have become an important foundation for the opening of the military department in 2022. Students are enrolled here both on a state grant and on a paid basis. During their studies, students participate in meetings with veterans, take part in parades and commemorative events, engage in volunteer projects, and provide assistance to veterans. This experience allows students not only to acquire valuable knowledge and skills, but also to contribute to public life by maintaining the connection between generations and paying tribute to the heroic pages of our history.
